The region's best drivers will face 262 of the most challenging kilometers ever offered for a round of the Middle East Championship over two days of arduous competition in and around the Dead Sea. The route also offers Jordan's mass band of rally fans a chance to relive the memories of Jordan's glorious step onto the world stage in April.
"Everyone is a winner for this year's Middle East event," said Randa Nabulsi, the clerk of the course and the head of a strong team pulling together this prestigious event for the 27th year. "The drivers will be challenged by a WRC track while the fans will enjoy more breathtaking locations and action. For us, as organisers, it provides another opportunity for training our volunteers and building the capacity of our team as we move towards hosting the WRC again in 2010."
With the headquarters and service park once again located at the Dead Sea, the Jordan Rally will be compact and centralized which is a requirement of the FIA for modern day rallies.
Day One will see nine tough stages taking in some of Jordan's most celebrated tourism site including Mount Nebo and the Baptism Site with action going from 750m above sea level down to 400m below.
The following day will follow a similar trail with action to the East and North of the Dead Sea. Most of the competitive kilometres were used for the WRC and are easy to access for Jordan motor-mad spectators.
The Middle East Rally Championship round's headquarters will be centred at the Movenpick Hotel with the Service Park a stone's throw away at the specially created facility on the banks of the Dead Sea.
Dozens of the region's top drivers will be taking on the best that Jordan has to offer for two competitive days while the Opening Ceremony – the ceremonial start – takes place on October 16 in Al Hussein Gardens in Amman.
